About The Position

National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL, operates passenger charter service as well as customized military and commercial air cargo carriages worldwide. National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its mission. Job Title: Manager of Dangerous Goods Location: Orlando, FL (MCO) Department: Flight Operations Reports To: Director of Ground Services FLSA Status: Exempt Summary: The Manager of Dangerous Goods administers National’s Hazardous Materials/ Dangerous Goods program. This position reports to the Director of Ground Services and will work indirectly with the Vice President of Commercial Operations and Planning.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience administering a Dangerous Goods program.
  • 5 years’ experience handling regulated cargo, Dangerous Goods, ground operations, and customer service in the airline industry
  • Associates degree (preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of domestic and international ground and cargo operations, and
  • Experience in applying for DOT Special Permits
  • Expert in Dangerous Goods regulations (49 CFR and ICAO) and regulated cargo programs
  • Dangerous Goods and Temperature control certified
  • Proactive in anticipating problems and initiating actions to resolve issues in regard to training matters
  • Significant experience with HazMat regulations
  • Must be legally authorized to work in United States
  • Excellent collaboration with management and teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Think independently and handle multiple projects through completion
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves/rejects DG and Regulated Cargo shipments.
  • Works in concert with the National Airlines Sales Team to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Ensure the company operates within government regulations and company manuals and procedures.
  • Establishes, maintains, and controls the Ground Operations Training Program affecting the Company’s Hazardous Materials Program.
  • Responsible for the administration and operation of Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods program.
  • Conducts Cargo audits/training, Deicing and Anti-icing program/training.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Safety (DOS) regarding station reviews, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinates with the DOS to investigate Ground Operations accidents and incidents, and coordinates process and procedure improvements.
  • Coordinates any new station startups, special requests, problem station improvements, and projects involving procedural changes and improvements.
  • Attend training seminars and regulatory conferences to ensure up-to-date compliance with aviation regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
