About The Position

Gateway Fiber is seeking an outstanding individual to fill our Manager of Construction role. Gateway is creating a leading, national fiber-to-the-home platform. With the support of its financial sponsor CBRE Investment Management, Gateway plans to reach 500,000 homes and businesses with its service over the next several years. Gateway provides faster, more reliable internet with a simple pricing model and industry-leading customer service. Gateway Fiber is seeking an experienced Manager of Construction to manage all aspects of Gateway’s outside plant in an assigned territory by ensuring overall plant integrity, adherence to safety & construction standards, build timelines are met to achieve our organizational growth goals, and overseeing all operational efforts of the Gateway Fiber network.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in telecom outside plant and/or construction experience.
  • 3+ Years of leadership in an operational environment.
  • Ability to lead through influence and balance needs of numerous stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong follow-up skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint and in a project management software application such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business in Operations Management, Project Management, Leadership, or related field required; additional certifications or education are welcomed.
  • Diligence, consistency, and quick decision-making ability

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing in-market construction team including any third-party vendors participating in the construction process.
  • Interpret construction drawings and right-of-way plans and validate construction operations coincide with drafted plans.
  • Lead the onboarding of new contractors including training in Gateway’s specifications & best-build practices.
  • Work with all stakeholders to resolve construction related issues including but not limited to city officials & residents.
  • Establish relationships with Utilities & Locating companies to ensure support and prevent locating bottlenecks.
  • Interface with Gateway Fiber Engineering to resolve any discrepancies between design and field construction.
  • Evaluate engineering change requests and work with engineering to implement.
  • Track daily progress versus plan, escalating key obstacles and resources needs to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Ensure permits and easements required for construction are secured.
  • Emergency management related to any network outages, including internal and external resources.
  • Fostering a culture of safety, accuracy, and efficiency for internal and external teams.
