The role includes: plans, conducts and coordinates sensitive Health Sciences related investigations, compliance monitoring and audits, compliance trainings, and performs other tasks as assigned by the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer aligned with the annual compliance plan; directs privacy activity and participates in risk assessments of the health system; develops, maintains, and recommends opportunities that enhance compliance and privacy training materials and experiences; oversees compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements. Experience in healthcare setting such as hospital, outpatient clinics, long-term care or payer plan is required. Working under the direction of the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer this role will lead the management functions of the Privacy Program, including but not limited to, development, implementation and maintenance of Privacy policies and procedures, investigation and tracking of privacy incidents and assisting in reporting inappropriate access and/or disclosure of protected health information according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA). The position will serve as the subject matter expert for Howard University Health Sciences Privacy program or any of its affiliated covered entities. The role will also serve as a second-in-command to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer in his/her absence.
