About The Position

The position is for a full-time role at Advocate Christ Medical Center in the Med Surg department, specifically IU 6 West. The role involves planning, management, implementation, and evaluation of operations/services to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The responsibilities include participating in short and long-term planning, establishing staffing requirements, monitoring quality of patient care, facilitating care delivery, supporting case management practices, developing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, promoting patient safety, and conducting special projects. The position also requires preparation and administration of budgets, selection and development of staff, maintenance of effective working relationships, and personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and Master's Degree in any field OR Bachelor's Degree in any field with a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN).
  • 2+ years of previous management experience focused in an intensive care setting.
  • 4+ years of clinical RN experience with 2 years in intensive care.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Illinois.
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes and results-oriented approach.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and delegation skills.
  • Effective communication and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in short and long term planning.
  • Establishes staffing requirements and plans for the appropriate utilization of human resources.
  • Monitors quality of patient care and patient satisfaction; oversees implementation of measures to improve both.
  • Facilitates care delivery in conjunction with the patient focused model.
  • Supports and facilitates case management practice in conjunction with Advocate Christ Medical Center protocols.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to assure effective and efficient operations.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards.
  • Promotes patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives.
  • Develops and incorporates Performance Improvement projects.
  • Conducts special projects and studies related to area activities, goals, or objectives.
  • Assumes 24 hour responsibility for assigned areas of operation.
  • Plans and administers an annual budget, monitors budgetary expenditures, and reports variances.
  • Recruits, selects, mentors, and motivates direct reports.
  • Ensures timely completion of performance reviews for all staff.
  • Coordinates recruitment activities and retention strategies.
  • Assesses educational needs of staff and facilitates education opportunities.
  • Implements and coordinates disciplinary procedures.
  • Collaborates with physicians, management, and other health care professionals.
  • Actively participates in hospital committees and projects.
  • Networks with peers and professionals at other health care facilities.
  • Coordinates activities with various hospital departments.
