About The Position

A growing residential property management and investment firm is seeking a Manager of Capital Projects to oversee capital improvements across a large multifamily real estate portfolio in NYC . This role will lead high-value building upgrades, manage vendors and contractors, and collaborate with senior leadership and investment partners to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget . This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on project execution and has experience managing multi-million-dollar residential capital projects . 🏒 About the Portfolio 425 unique properties / 2,300 residential units across #pleasenoNYC Primarily townhomes in Brooklyn and Queens Most buildings are 100+ years old but extensively rehabilitated Average property contains 4–5 units

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in capital improvements, construction project management, or capital planning
  • Experience managing high-value, multi-million-dollar projects
  • Residential real estate experience required
  • NYC experience strongly preferred , particularly Brooklyn
  • Strong ability to manage vendors, contractors, and project timelines
  • Comfortable presenting updates to senior leadership and investor groups
  • Highly organized, strategic, and tech-savvy
  • Experience with Yardi or other property management systems strongly preferred
  • Backgrounds may include: Capital Projects Manager, Construction Project Manager, Capital Planning Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Facilities Leader

Responsibilities

  • Manage large capital expenditure projects across a multifamily real estate portfolio
  • Lead end-to-end execution of major building upgrades such as HVAC, roofing, and structural improvements
  • Oversee construction projects from planning through completion
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, capital partners, and internal teams
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and compliant with regulations
  • Track contracts, budgets, and cost variances between estimated and actual expenses
  • Provide clear reporting and project updates to executive leadership and investor partners
  • Balance strategic planning (budgeting and forecasting) with tactical execution and vendor management
  • Utilize platforms such as Yardi, Monday.com, and other property management systems for project tracking and reporting
