About The Position

The Manager Advanced Practice Providers will be an integral leader in the Women’s Medicine Inpatient Unit (WMIU) reporting to the Chief of OBGYN and Administrative Director. Time will be allocated for administrative responsibilities including scheduling, mentorship, and program development for the existing Advanced Practice Providers in the department working closely with the clinical and administrative leaders. Time will be focused on the of women’s inpatient unit and gynecology surgical services including evaluation and management, surgical assists, post-operative care, and management of gynecologic hospital admissions. Requirements

  • Masters of Science Degree, Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Specialty certification required.
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing.
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
  • At least five years of experience as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • On-boards new hires, mentors, appraises and when necessary, manages performance improvement plans up to and including termination.
  • Oversees scheduling of advanced practice providers to ensure proper patient care coverage
  • Participates in program development under the direction of the Chief of OBGYN
  • Demonstrates a fundamental grounding in nursing theory and practice with mastery of knowledge within a defined content area.
  • Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings.
  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.
  • Oversees care coordination in acute, home care, and ambulatory care settings as feasible.
  • Assists the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals by providing necessary support, education and encouragement.
  • Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
  • Provides direct care to patients in acute care, ambulatory care and home care settings.
  • Performs advanced practice skills under the supervision of the attending physician.
  • Provides expert consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
  • Participates in the education, clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers.
  • Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise.
  • Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS, and ACLS/PALS.
  • Prescriptive privileges per licensure.
