About The Position

We’re searching for a Manager of Inpatient Nursing - Float Pool, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will maintain shift accountability for clinical and personnel activities and provide support to the Assistant Clinical Director. The Manager of Inpatient Nursing participates in the delivery of high quality, family-centered, and developmentally appropriate patient care at the unit level. The Float Pool team is comprised of Registered Nurses (RNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), and Patient Observation Assistants (POAs). Team members and leaders collaborate closely with the House Supervisor team to provide comprehensive support across the medical center campus. The Float Pool includes three specialized RN teams: Flex Team -Provides coverage across all Intensive Care Unit (ICU) units, Acute Care units, and the Emergency Center (EC). Acute Care Team -Supports all Acute Care units throughout the facility. Critical Care Team -Covers all ICU units, including the Emergency Center (EC), Bone Marrow Transplant unit, and Adult Congenital Heart unit. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing (BSN) required
  • RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact required
  • BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association required
  • Certification in specialty-specific area or nursing leadership, with completion of certification within 1 year of assuming the role preferred
  • 2 years Nursing experience required
  • Acute care or critical care nursing experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains clinical competency by ensuring that the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patient are met within a family-centered care environment.
  • Monitors and facilitates patient throughput to ensure the delivery of safe quality and efficient care.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with patient care needs with appropriate members of the healthcare team to achieve desired clinical outcomes and management of care across the continuum. Demonstrates effective communication skills with the health care team and work to eliminate communication barriers. Serves as a liaison between physicians, families, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
  • Observes, identifies, and addresses human resources issues for assigned staff. Coaches, counsels, and develops nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.
  • Supports the implementation of unit goals and communication of the organization’s strategic plan to staff.
  • Participates in unit-based quality initiatives for the purpose of developing and monitoring clinical outcomes that demonstrate nursing excellence.
