About The Position

Amazon Robotics is a team of innovators applying advances in robotics and software to solve real-world challenges that transform customer experiences. With locations in the greater Boston and Seattle area, Amazon Robotics co-locates offices, labs, test floors, and factories to design, test, build, and deploy dynamic fleets of robots, mechatronic systems, and pack automation solutions. Current advancements include autonomous movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, and predictive analytics. The Amazon Robotics Supply Chain is responsible for strategic sourcing for robotic technologies, delivering new products by enabling the right suppliers and technologies, and ensuring materials are available at the right cost, place, and time for global fulfillment and transportation solutions. This is a fast-paced, data-driven operation working cross-functionally across Amazon. The Robotics Supply Chain New Product Lead - Tech will tackle critical, technologically advanced products at Amazon. This role involves managing a portfolio of robotic products, overseeing supplier and supply chain strategies, developing product cost roadmaps, enabling rapid New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, and ensuring a successful ramp to mass production. The Lead manages products from concept through development to scaled deployment, collaborating with senior product and engineering leaders to balance commercial and technical constraints, risks, and goals. Essential to the role is technical subject matter expertise in robotic product technologies and architectures, including development and integration strategies within Amazon and the wider industry. This expertise will inform technical strategies and decisions, balancing technical and business requirements to drive scalable products that meet Amazon's cost targets. The RSC New Product Lead - Tech acts as a trusted subject matter expert, communicating with stakeholders, advocating for commercial opportunities at the Director level and above, contributing to strategic documents, and reporting on business impact and contributions. The role requires a strong business owner who can Think Big, Deliver Results, and make a lasting impact on Amazon Robotics technologies, comfortable in a fast-paced environment with product delivery times measured in months. The successful candidate will have a proven background in Robotics automation, global supplier management, and NPI for advanced technology development and scaled production, working with cross-functional leaders from product, engineering, manufacturing, and field operations. They must be self-managing, possess a high sense of urgency, and be driven to achieve product development and deployment, owning the communication, coordination, execution, and delivery of a multi-year program vision.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of business development, direct technology services sales, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of people management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
  • 4+ years of relevant strategic sourcing including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis experience
  • Master's degree or above

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional supply chain team dedicated to the supplier and supply chain design, sourcing and logistics decisions, and supply chain execution for robotics products from concept, through development, to scaled deployment.
  • Act as single point of contact for program resources (leadership and working teams) to communicate Supply Chain decisions and PDP progress, provide feedback on supply chain implications of program decisions and changes, and support financial planning and capital approvals for the program.
  • Work with Robotics leadership to ensure partnership between Robotics Supply Chain, hardware engineering, operations and program teams on commodity and supplier selection, cost performance tradeoff analysis, cost road map development and execution, and enabling rapid product development stages, and delivering an effective path to scaled deployment.
  • Responsible for definition and approval of the Product level Supply Chain Execution PDP documents, including identification of critical components and suppliers, product cost roadmap to meet payback targets, definition of capacity plan and associated sourcing and tooling requirements, supply chain risk assessment & mitigation plans.
  • Work with sourcing in developing negotiation strategies for categories which impacts the product to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers pertaining to Amazon Robotics products supporting the priority programs as driven by the Operating Plan (OP).
  • Work with GCMs on managing overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements.
  • Develop roadmap to achieving NPI and GA total cost targets (TCO), including make vs. buy analysis and value engineering opportunities.
  • Ensure non-cost goals (Sustainability, Supplier Development, Cost Savings) are met and supported by the product specific supply chain strategy.
