About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity to support our Technology team as a Manager, Network Engineering based in Shelton, CT. The Manager, Network Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers in designing, implementing, and maintaining a highly available and secure global network infrastructure. This role will oversee enterprise network operations across data centers, cloud environments (Azure & AWS), and remote offices, ensuring scalability, performance, and security alignment with business objectives. In addition to network engineering, this role will also oversee network operations, ensuring efficient incident response, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement of network reliability and performance. This includes managing vendor relationships and optimizing support models to enhance service delivery. This individual will play a key role in strategic initiatives, including network modernization, cloud connectivity, and SD-WAN expansion. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and cross-functional collaboration to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in enterprise network engineering.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience leading network teams.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in network engineering operations security.
  • Proven leadership in managing teams, vendors, and service providers.
  • Strong background in cloud networking, SD-WAN, and network security principles.
  • PCNSE, JNCIE, ACE-Expert, or CCIE certification preferred.
  • Expertise in BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and firewall security policies.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto firewalls, and HP Aruba SD-WAN solutions.
  • Proficiency in Azure & AWS cloud networking, including ExpressRoute and Direct Connect.
  • Experience in network automation, scripting (Python, Ansible), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust frameworks, network segmentation, SSL decryption, and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
  • Knowledge of network monitoring solutions like Dynatrace, SolarWinds, Chronosphere.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of network engineers and operations staff.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, SLAs, and MSPs.
  • Strong project management skills to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Communicate complex networking concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex network issues.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for network modernization and cloud migrations.
  • Experience in budgeting and optimizing network expenditures.
  • Work cross-functionally with Security, IAM, Infrastructure, and Cloud Engineering teams.
  • Understanding of IT governance, risk management, and compliance in large enterprises.
  • Strong documentation skills for network policies, standards, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Network Architecture team to support the implementation of scalable, secure, and highly available network infrastructure across data centers, cloud environments (Azure & AWS), and remote offices.
  • Ensure adherence to network standards, policies, and best practices aligned with business and security requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day network operations, ensuring efficient troubleshooting, issue resolution, and incident response.
  • Manage and optimize network monitoring, observability, and logging using tools such as Dynatrace, SolarWinds, and Chronosphere.
  • Develop and enforce SLA-driven operational processes for incident response and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the Security team to implement and maintain Zero Trust principles, firewall policies, network segmentation, SSL decryption, and access control.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
  • Drive network modernization projects, SD-WAN expansion with HP Aruba (SilverPeak), and cloud network optimizations.
  • Support the migration of network infrastructure to Azure VMware Services (AVS) and AWS, ensuring efficient connectivity, security, and performance.
  • Develop and execute a lifecycle management plan for network hardware, software, and configurations.
  • Oversee relationships with network hardware vendors, service providers, and managed network operations partners.
  • Evaluate vendor SLAs and performance to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Lead and mentor a team of network engineers and operations staff, ensuring skills development and career growth.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular coaching sessions, and facilitate training on emerging technologies.
  • Participate in budget planning, procurement, and capacity forecasting for network infrastructure and services.
  • Optimize cost-efficiency and resource utilization while maintaining high-performance network services.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure IAM Security Cloud Engineering teams to align network strategies with business objectives.
  • Support IT leadership in defining roadmaps policies governance frameworks for enterprise networking.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to remote offices or data centers for in-person assessments, installations, or upgrades.
  • Provide hands-on training or supervision where remote collaboration tools are insufficient.
