About The Position

The Mobile Software Engineering Manager will lead a dedicated mobile engineering team responsible for delivering high-quality native iOS and Android applications across our digital product ecosystem—including consumer-facing apps, enterprise tools, and applications that communicate with edge gateway devices. This role blends people management, technical leadership, and delivery ownership, with primary focus on team development, sprint execution, and engineering excellence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant mobile development focus
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience (team lead, tech lead, or people manager)
  • Native mobile development experience required (iOS with Swift, Android with Kotlin)
  • Experience with mobile-to-device communication patterns required, including BLE, local WiFi connectivity, and offline-first architectures
  • Deep understanding of native iOS (Swift, UIKit/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) development
  • Experience with mobile app architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization)
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and mobile networking patterns
  • Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
  • Familiarity with app store submission processes, TestFlight, and staged rollouts
  • Demonstrated prior experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex, GitHub Copilot) in engineering work
  • Ability to coach and mentor engineers on effective AI-augmented development workflows
  • Competency evaluating AI-generated code quality during reviews
  • Experience designing team processes that incorporate AI tooling effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar field. Equivalent experience considered

Nice To Haves

  • React Native experience preferred (legacy codebase transition)
  • Experience with cross-platform frameworks (React Native)
  • Experience with mobile analytics & crash reporting tools (PostHog, Sentry, etc.)
  • Trunk-based development as the primary branching strategy

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of mobile engineers through coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, architecture decisions, and debugging escalations—serving as an escalation point for complex technical challenges
  • Own sprint planning, delivery execution, and predictable delivery outcomes in partnership with Product and Architecture
  • Define and enforce mobile engineering best practices across coding standards, documentation, scalability, performance, and maintainability
  • Own quality strategy across the development lifecycle—defining testing standards (unit, UI, integration), coverage expectations, and CI/CD quality gates
  • Own the full mobile release lifecycle including App Store Connect (iOS) and Google Play Console (Android) management, submission processes, and release coordination
  • Lead development of applications that communicate with edge gateway/IoT devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), local WiFi, and offline-tolerant architectures
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, firmware teams, backend engineers, and other stakeholder groups to align on priorities and milestones
  • Drive platform modernization efforts, maintaining current iOS and Android SDK adoption
  • Promote DevSecOps concepts, mobile CI/CD automation, and secure-by-design engineering practices
  • Conduct technical interviews and evaluate candidate technical skills
  • Maintain strong communication channels across technical and non-technical teams
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
