About The Position

The Manager, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Program manages accreditation criteria and ensures regulatory compliance for all assigned program(s). This role involves assisting in program development, managing the accreditation process, ensuring continuous compliance with MBSAQIP standards, maintaining relevant pathways and protocols, patient education, monitoring outcomes data and collection, quality improvement initiatives, and the education of relevant staff with a focus on metabolic and bariatric patient safety. The manager works directly with the MBS Director to ensure program success and support navigation of patients in the program, including collaboration with the Surgery Department. Additionally, the manager serves as the liaison between the facility and all metabolic and bariatric proceduralists at the hospital and any general surgeons providing call coverage. The position also includes administering MBS Committee meetings, including an annual comprehensive review of the program, and collecting and submitting accurate, complete, and timely data to the MBSAQIP Registry. The manager works closely with the members of the metabolic and bariatric and general surgery departments to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects that may be identified. This position is a leadership role with the authority to implement required processes to ensure program success and may involve responsibilities such as employee coaching, training, hiring, counseling/discipline, performance assessment, and payroll processes.
