About the position

Centered in the heart of San Joaquin County, Adventist Health Lodi Memorial has been one of the area's leading healthcare providers since 1952. The position manages the medical staff organization and the medical staff services (MSS) department, assisting with performance improvement efforts and compliance activities in the medical staff services arena. It also involves conducting performance reviews and providing input on direct reports for human resource decisions such as hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

Responsibilities

  • Supports medical staff in carrying out functions and responsibilities by preparing correspondence and facilitating communication between departments and committees.
  • Collects data and prepares related summary reports for medical staff and organization management, as requested.
  • Assists with the review, development and revision of the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Administers personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, orientation, vacation schedules, payroll records and time reports.
  • Assists with the preparation of department budget and makes budgetary recommendations and projections.
  • Monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditures of budgeted funds.
  • Compiles information reflecting expenditures and develops cost-comparisons.
  • Identifies cost savings within the operation.
  • Provides meeting management and ensures the flow of information from the medical staff committees through the medical executive committee.
  • Monitors and revises credentialing and privileging forms and functions as needed to ensure consistency in accordance with regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Oversees medical staff performance improvement/peer review functions, ensuring findings are appropriately reviewed, communicated and documented.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' management-related training and experience in an acute care hospital setting: Preferred
  • One year’s leadership experience: Preferred
  • Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) within a year: Required
