The manager of the medical staff office plays a vital role in the functioning of the hospital. The manager oversees compliance with medical staff bylaws, and is integral to the process of privileging and credentialing and maintaining the quality of the medical staff. The manager works closely with MSO staff, the chief medical officer, and the Quality Team, and serves as a liaison between members of the medical staff and hospital administration.

  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
  • The Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining the functions of the Medical Staff Office.
  • Present monthly completed and current files to the Credentials Committee.
  • Ensure the timely process of credentialing appointments and reappointments.
  • Ensure privilege listings remain current (conduct every two-year review in collaboration with the Chiefs of Departments/Services); post to relevant locations and maintain up to date.
  • Sustain ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintain credentialing software and database.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the CMO.
  • Assist CMO with preparation for, attend, and take scrupulous minutes; conduct follow-up actions as assigned to Medical Executive Committee, Clinical Practice Committee, Credentials Committee, General Medical Staff meetings, Peer Review Committee, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure monthly timely submission of MSO Actions to the Board of Trustees.
  • Supervise the Medical Staff Coordinator.
  • Support the MS Budget processes.
  • Participate in Medical Staff projects as directed by the Quality Department.
  • Participate in the Maine Association of Medical Staff Coordinators' meetings.
  • Maintain the budget for the MSO and support budget processes in collaboration with Medical Staff leadership.
  • Maintains all required competencies and completes annual compliance courses on time.
  • Other duties as consistent with this role.
  • Requires an associate's degree or its equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in the field.
  • Requires Medical Staff Credentialing experience, RHIT/RHIA, or certification in medical staff credentialing.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on extensive Medical Staff office-related experience and judgment to adequately discharge the functions of this position.
  • Possesses ability to attend to meticulous detail and follow up on activities to conclusion, is task oriented.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
