About The Position

This position is responsible for managing the Design Engineering Mechanical /Structural department to offer design services that supports maintaining the design bases and licensing bases (configuration control for the NPP). This design organization maintains consistency and standards in all design documents and for changes to the plant both temporary and permanent. In addition to modifications, the Mechanical/Structural group supports the plant with engineering evaluations for work order execution and 50.59 program support. The manager is the focal point for interfacing with regulators, contractors and industry groups.

Requirements

  • Engineering 4 Year Degree from an accredited institution
  • Design Engineering experience and familiarity with the Design Control program at a Nuclear Facility.
  • An advanced knowledge of Mechanical/Structural design.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear plant processes, programs, and procedures
  • Knowledge of nuclear codes, standards and regulations; to include Licensing knowledge at a Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Nuclear policies and guidelines to for Engineering Organizations including Chapter 15 nuclear safety analysis
  • Ability to obtain Design Qualifications at the Nuclear Facility

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering registration preferred
  • Plant Certification or SRO Certification/License is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Non-emergent Engineering Changes and outage modifications.
  • Maintains the Plant design and licensing basis including Subject Matter Experts to support Design and licensing including 10CFR 50.59 and 72.48.
  • High Energy Line Break (HELB) / Flooding Program / Safety Analysis / Structures Monitoring Calculations update for design basis management
  • Owner’s Acceptance Reviews for Projects’ Engineering Changes
  • Leads or Supports design engineering changes/projects and Task Teams
  • Resolves Condition Reports and addresses Operating Experience
  • Response to Regulatory inquiries on licensing basis.
  • Directs the activities of the individual contributors within the group
  • Independent Spent Fuel Storage / Dry Cask Project support
  • Allocates personnel and budget to complete engineering activities and meet department/site goals
  • Provides timely resolution and recommendations to technical problems to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation
  • Responsible for maintaining site drawings
  • Provide support for the Emergency Response Organization
  • Provide support as the Engineering Duty Manager
