About The Position

The Materials Manager oversees the planning, procurement, storage, inventory control, and distribution of materials and supplies to meet the operational needs of the hospital and clinic. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing practices, maintains appropriate inventory levels, and supports high-quality patient care through efficient supply chain operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Materials Management or Supply Chain role within an acute care hospital and/or clinic setting.
  • Working knowledge of accounting, database, inventory management, and order processing systems, as well as spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Hands-on experience with computerized inventory and procurement systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
  • Solid math skills with an understanding of budgeting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, supervise, and direct the work of storeroom and materials staff responsible for receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure supplies are available when needed.
  • Assist staff with the preparation and issuance of purchase orders.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and group purchasing organizations to reduce supply and service costs.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes to ensure optimal quality, pricing, and delivery performance.
  • Maintain department policies and procedures.
  • Prepare QAPI reports and participate in huddles, management meetings, infection control meetings, safety meetings, and other required committees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Administrator.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Comply with department dress code guidelines.
  • Attend required meetings, in-service programs, and mandatory education (including CareLearning courses).
  • Treat patients, customers, and coworkers with respect and professionalism.
  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard patient and organizational confidentiality at all times.
  • Work independently with flexibility, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and external partners.
