About The Position

This role oversees procurement, budgeting, and supplier performance while driving continuous improvement in equipment reliability and service delivery. The position requires strong technical acumen, data-driven decision-making, and effective collaboration across teams to resolve issues and optimize processes. The manager also supports crisis and change management initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements to maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and cost control within material handling operations. About the team: The Automation Center of Excellence (COE) drives reliability and execution for Grocery automation platforms, including Witron and Swisslog. The team collaborates with Operations, Engineering, Run the Business, and vendors to enhance performance, minimize downtime, and ensure scalable execution. Leading maintenance standards, vendor governance, and continuous improvement, the COE transforms reactive processes into data-driven operations. With comprehensive ownership, technical expertise, and strong cross-functional leadership, the team delivers measurable results, builds dependable systems, and maintains clear accountability, enabling the Grocery automation network to operate with confidence, resilience, and optimal readiness.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in vendor and contract management, ensuring compliance and strong supplier partnerships.
  • Experience in procurement processes and budget management, with ability to analyze variances and optimize expenditures.
  • Strong operational excellence mindset, adept at implementing standard procedures and resolving departmental challenges.
  • Technical acumen in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues, supporting installations, and maintaining reliability standards.
  • Skilled in data analysis and reporting to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and drive change management with sound planning and execution.
  • Associate's degree in a Technical related field (e.g., Controls, Electrical) and 4 years experience in Material Handling Industry or related field OR 6 years experience in Material Handling Industry or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vendor relationships by evaluating performance, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with contractual and quality standards.
  • Oversee contract administration, ensuring adherence to organizational protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing documentation, utilizing procurement systems, and coordinating with approved suppliers.
  • Develop and manage budgets, analyze variances, and prepare expense management reports.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying process improvements, ensuring safety compliance, and implementing standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize data analysis tools to generate insights, support decision-making, and influence strategic initiatives.
  • Lead reliability and quality assurance efforts to maintain equipment performance and minimize downtime.

  • The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
