This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a passionate and growing team of experts, you will be accountable as the technical leader for architecting, planning, and developing tooling and production systems capable of scaling Blue Origin Operations in a cost effective and efficient manner. You will act as the single threaded leader between cross-functional organizations, to include Manufacturing, Procurement, Test, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Program Management to ensure alignment and overall strategy of the Advanced Manufacturing Organization. You will do so by ensuring cost and schedule conformance for prescribed production systems, tooling concepts, and novel build process development. Requirements

  • Previous experience in a leadership role with significant technical program management responsibility; strong track record of delivering results and creating a positive, high performing culture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent and 6+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, either in an official management capacity or as an informal technical leader.
  • Strong track record of managing the technical execution and delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Experience creating a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on technical excellence and successful project outcomes
  • Experience supporting programs/projects thru the product development lifecycle.
  • Deep experience in and understanding of complex manufacturing and production systems.
  • Demonstrated exceptional business acumen, while being comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Project & program management experience throughout the manufacturing and tooling environment.
  • Highly effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with internal and external teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing dynamic (e.g., growing, evolving) organizations, including planning, budget, schedule, quality, deliverables, reporting, staff, facilities, and interfaces.
  • Technical or project management expertise that has contributed to the success of Tier 1 milestones.
  • Experience managing high-mix, low-volume production activities.
  • Experience transitioning manufacturing capabilities from development/acquisition to production.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes, integration processes, systems engineering best practices, test, quality and configuration management systems.
  • Experience managing facility level capital improvements and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategic planning for tooling and production efforts to deliver fully integrated and vetted solutions.
  • Ensure all Production requirements are being met from fabrication/assembly, procurement, and facilities planning efforts.
  • Responsible for developing the plan for operations, tooling, facilities, equipment (capital).
  • Responsible for keeping this plan current and coordinated with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure integration of all tooling and process development schedules including in-house development and external vendor studies & designs.
  • Ensure the consistent application and proper communication with production operations of requirements to support tooling needs, including schedule, capacity planning, equipment, facilities and infrastructure.
  • Perform and lead others in the development of specific project/program plans, managing risks, tracking, reporting on status, and resolving blocking issues.
  • Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.
  • Develop and implement tooling, facilities, process and systems roadmaps working with internal and external customers to understand how the overall system integrates to meet current and future company needs.
  • Oversee capital and R&D budgets with the responsibility to analyze, manage and report on budget performance and variance analysis.
  • Work with Program, Engineering & Operations stakeholders to identify opportunities for vertical integration, automation, new process introduction, and general cost reduction opportunities.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team from the ground up, defining a scalable organizational structure and fostering a culture of ownership and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the strategic evaluation and focused development of novel manufacturing technologies, ensuring new capabilities align with and support the long-range production system roadmap.
