The Manufacturing Planning Manager is responsible for the planning and preparation of production schedules for manufacturing operations. The individual in this position will lead a team to plan and schedule the manufacturing of products and coordinate work on special projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. Evaluate and continuously improve the production planning process. Evaluate current processes and metrics; develop processes and/or metrics to help manufacturing improve service to meet the delivery needs of the companys customers. Prepare and present summaries of manufacturing and performance indices to staff and management. Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the organization with a specific focus on sales, marketing, and product development to ensure that manufacturing plans support the sales demand and total revenue plan. Encourage a team working environment by building trust and cooperation among team members and review team progress regularly to ensure team and company goals are being met. Use independent judgment to assign team member work duties to meet operational requirements. Make sure that team members and co-workers have the information needed to perform their job duties. Supervise team members in a manner that enables growth and success through feedback, training, and encouragement. Establish performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and performance reviews to ensure that team members understand how their job duties support the companys mission and have the right tools/resources to do their jobs well. Use independent judgment to ensure that team members follow company policy and maintain a safe work environment by encouraging safe practices and promptly resolving violations, including initiating or recommending rewards and discipline as needed. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness. Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance. Adhere to established company values, practices, policies and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards. Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location. Supply & Production Planning Convert demand signals into production / supply plans Balance demand vs capacity vs constraints Manage finite vs infinite planning decisions Coordinate plant schedules & replenishment strategies Resolve shortages and supply imbalances Optimize network flows (plants ? DCs ? customers) Inventory Strategy & Control Set and manage inventory policies (safety stock, targets, reorder logic) Balance service level vs working capital Identify excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory Support prebuild and seasonal inventory decisions Drive inventory turns & health metrics Capacity & Constraint Management Evaluate capacity feasibility Identify bottlenecks and resource constraints Coordinate with manufacturing / operations Develop mitigation scenarios (overtime, alternate sourcing, etc.) Support RCCP / rough-cut capacity planning S&OP / IBP Process Leadership Lead or heavily support planning cycles: Supply Review Pre-S&OP / Executive Review Prepare scenarios and trade-off analyses Align cross-functional stakeholders Translate executive decisions into plans MARGINAL FUNCTIONS The individual may be asked to perform other duties as requested.
