About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to support the Manufacturing for mission-critical space sensors of national importance used in global missile defense systems and weather observation. This role will oversee aspects of Manufacturing Engineering, process development, and production of space payloads with influence on product designs, manufacturing, and test strategies. Lead and direct experienced professionals. Communicate within and outside of organization to explain and influence changes to policies, practices, or approaches. Make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Establish short-term operational plans with measurable contribution to function or business area results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous management or supervisory experience and excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills to interface between technical and business leadership.
  • Experience with the integration and test of space electro-optical payloads for DoD, NASA, or other government applications.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles such as Mistake proofing, 3P, 5S+1, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Gemba, Pull-Flow, etc.
  • Working knowledge of space industry production standards such as J-STD-001, IPC, and NASA, and other workmanship specifications.
  • Experience scaling production operations from low volume to moderate volumes with a focus on flow and reducing manual processes.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems, Planning, and Scheduling tools, and managing material flow through factory operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy process standards to achieve operational excellence in an environmental test operation.
  • Active government secret security clearance.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Direct experience with deploying lean manufacturing strategies and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and capability.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ESD safeguards and contamination control.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, technical writing, MS Project and/or MS SharePoint.
  • Embodies strong professional work ethic, self-motivated and high attention to details.
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tactical execution of business plans for manufacturing focused on optimizing product costs, cycle times, and product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Provide technical support on integration plans, processes, tools, and product design manufacturability assessments through collaboration with hardware engineering and business leaders.
  • Manage, develop, and grow a team of Manufacturing Engineers to meet business objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analyses focused on driving LEAN processes and quality enhancements into product designs and manufacturing processes.
