About The Position

The Manager of Local Government Affairs at Constellation is responsible for managing relationships with local government officials and stakeholders to support the company's advocacy efforts. This role involves strategic planning, community engagement, and collaboration with various internal and external resources to advance public policy initiatives and enhance the company's reputation in areas where it operates significant assets.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree and a minimum of eight years of professional experience with two or more specializing in government affairs, public advocacy, and/or communications.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to enhance advocacy efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to serve as an effective liaison between corporate leadership and local stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives in support of company policy objectives.
  • Ability to communicate in a public forum and perform business negotiations.
  • Ability to act as both a team player and independently with demonstrated leadership in managing government relations.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to build a strong network of contacts within government and local agencies at multiple levels.
  • Understanding of the energy industry broadly, and the electric generation sector specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with county and local elected officials, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively seek and assume roles within local business and community organizations, attending local events to manage the company’s reputation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to craft and execute strategies that advance the company’s public policy and advocacy initiatives.
  • Identify relevant emerging issues and communicate them timely to corporate and business unit leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze proposed legislation, ordinances, and local emerging issues to determine their potential impact on the company.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of budgets for advocacy-related expenses.
  • Utilize expertise with local stakeholders to enhance the company’s public affairs messaging and support brand awareness.
