About The Position

The Manager, Local Community Engagement Liaison will build and maintain the "social license to operate" in the communities where we build and maintain infrastructure. You will be the face and voice of the company, responsible for turning potential community opposition into long-term partnerships through transparency, education, and investment.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years in community relations, local government, or public affairs. Experience in construction, energy, or large-scale land development is a plus.
  • The "Local" Factor: A deep understanding of the specific region’s culture, history, and political landscape.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proven ability to remain calm and professional in high-tension environments (e.g., a heated town hall meeting).
  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling skills; the ability to explain why a data center or energy project matters to a local farmer or shop owner.
  • Availability: Willingness to attend evening city council meetings and weekend community events.

Responsibilities

  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the first line of communication for local residents, small business owners, and community groups.
  • Local Official Engagement: Maintain regular contact with City Councils, County Commissions, and local planning boards to provide project updates.
  • Crisis Communication: Respond quickly to local concerns or misinformation, resolving issues before they escalate to the municipal or state level.
  • Community Investment: Manage the local "giving" budget, identifying high-impact opportunities for sponsorships, grants, and volunteer events (e.g., local STEM programs, environmental cleanups) in support of the larger Crusoe philanthropic strategy
  • Public Forums: Organize, support and lead town halls, "open house" events, and site tours to demystify our operations and answer technical questions for a general audience.
  • Workforce Partnerships: Partner with local community colleges or trade schools to create pathways for local hiring and training.
  • Local Intelligence: Act as the "eyes and ears" for the corporate team, providing regular reports on local sentiment, political shifts, and potential project roadblocks.
  • Content Creation: Collaborate with the Public Affairs/Marketing/Comms team to create localized newsletters, fact sheets, and social media updates that resonate with the specific community.
