About The Position

The Legal Services Manager at DLA Piper is responsible for overseeing the Legal Support Services Teams (LSST) within assigned offices, ensuring efficient workflow and coordination of workload. This role involves managing day-to-day activities, supervising staff, and serving as a liaison between various departments to enhance attorney-client service. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring at least three days in the office, and is pivotal in maintaining operational excellence within the firm.

Requirements

  • 5 years of general management experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and communication skills are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a legal or professional services management setting preferred.
  • Human resources management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities of LSST.
  • Coordinate workload and utilization of LSST members and teams.
  • Serve as liaison between administrative departments and LSST.
  • Communicate and administer firm policies and procedures related to LSST members.
  • Monitor daily absences and arrange substitute staffing as needed.
  • Process and approve time cards for all LSST members.
  • Propose and monitor budget for LSST members and overtime.
  • Report all leave and FMLA issues to Human Resources.
  • Monitor LSST staffing levels in line with the firm's ratio plan.
  • Provide and adjust work assignments for LSST members as necessary.
  • Recruit and interview LSST members for open assignments.
  • Assist in the training, orientation, and mentoring of new LSST members.
  • Prepare evaluations on all LSST members and propose annual salary increases.
  • Monitor, review, and evaluate LSST performance.
  • Coach, mediate, and document LSST member performance issues as needed.
  • Arrange and conduct LSST meetings and coordinate training events.
  • Participate in the orientation process for incoming LSST members and timekeepers.
  • Participate in various firm projects related to Legal Support Services.
