About The Position

The Manager of Landfill Gas & Liquids Operations at Republic Services is responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and operation of landfill gas and leachate collection systems. This role supports both HQ Operations Support and Engineering teams, as well as local field-based operations, by driving strategic initiatives, managing projects, and enhancing business planning within assigned sites. The position emphasizes collaboration with various teams to improve operational efficiency and sustainability in landfill operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the waste industry or related industry with significant exposure to Post Collection, LFG, and LF Liquids activities.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience managing landfill gas to energy projects.
  • Experience developing, constructing, and managing landfill gas wellfields and abatement devices.
  • Experience with landfill liquid extraction and treatment systems.
  • Experience with landfill operations including odor prevention and abatement.

Responsibilities

  • Support Engineering, GM, EM, and local operations with landfill gas and liquids extraction projects across assigned sites.
  • Assist operations and engineering teams with identification and assessment of landfill gas and liquids project opportunities.
  • Develop SOPs and best practices to drive improved return and cost savings and reduce capital expenditures in relation to gas and liquid extraction.
  • Conduct site visits to support the field operations team.
  • Provide technical support to local teams during periods of vacancies or significant projects.
  • Assist with training and development of field process flows related to landfill gas and leachate management projects.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to drive cost-savings in landfill gas and liquids extraction.
  • Work closely with local operations, environmental, engineering, and ops support teams to drive improvement in gas flow management and leachate management.
  • Review landfill gas and liquid data to assist local teams with gas and liquid collection system issues.
  • Partner with engineering to determine best practice for design of liquids and gas extraction.
  • Develop business plans and strategies to improve performance of priority sites.
  • Partner with local team and engineering to review all 3rd party proposals and estimates.
  • Provide regular updates to direct management on status of activities and projects.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
