Key Position Details: 1.0 FTE (80-hours per two week pay period) 8-hour day shifts No weekends Position will cover both our Mercy and Mercy-Unity campuses located in Coon Rapids and Fridley Job Description: Oversees the day-to-day operations in support of all facets of the laboratory operation. Ensures effective operation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, manages testing, develops and manages budgets, meets customer service levels, and regulatory requirements. Manages staff including scheduling, performance management and fostering employee engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field or Health, Education, and Welfare(HEW) equivalency exam (pre 1988) with seven years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of Laboratory experience
  • 4+ years of progressive management accountability

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in medical technology or related field
  • Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) certification by a recognized agency such as ASCP, AMT, or NCA in specialty area incumbent will be working in or related specialty certification such as Histotechnologist (HTL), or Cytotechnologist (CT) upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operational performance.
  • Monitors and oversees implementation of process improvements to meet or enhance quality and service targets.
  • Takes accountability and resolves next level escalation on customer service issues.
  • Assists in developing and implementing operations budget.
  • Monitors financial, volume, and productivity data to meet targets.
  • Implements cost reduction opportunities when identified.
  • Develops and maintains laboratory policies and procedures.
  • May have accountability for management of a non-laboratory department.
  • Management of staff.
  • Performance management of employee, including performance reviews.
  • Hires and onboards new employees.
  • Trains, orients and maintains competencies for employees.
  • Maintains scheduling, time off approval and timecard sign-off.
  • Maintains optimal staffing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
