About The Position

The Manager, Laboratory is responsible for the development and administration of operations and management of practice for the assigned laboratory area. The Manager will ensure high quality diagnostic testing and all laboratory activities comply with organizational policies/procedures, as well as regulatory and accreditation agency standards. The Manager will provide guidance to ensure appropriate outcomes and efficient, effective team processes.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field from a NAACLS accredited institution
  • Experience: 5 years as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist, including two years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong operating skills in the areas of priority setting, planning and organizing
  • Excellent communication to promote understanding and foster collaboration among clinical staff

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the administrative and operational activities of the Laboratory Department
  • Manages the technical operations of assigned clinical laboratory areas
  • Guides laboratory workflow processes and efficient testing schedules to ensure timely delivery of test results
  • Ensures laboratory personnel maintain current knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment operation
  • Oversees quality control program to ensure high quality diagnostic testing and all laboratory activities; Complies with organizational policies/procedures, as well as regulatory and accreditation agency standards
  • Serves as a resource to ensure effective communication between interdisciplinary teams and facilitates efforts to ensure optimal procedures and care
  • Oversees and tracks initial training program of laboratory personnel
  • Provides essential management functions to assure effective day-to-day operations
  • Budgets within parameters
  • Monitors and adjusts staffing and workload as appropriate
  • Conducts interviews, hires and employment actions
  • Coaches team members and leads the team toward improvement
  • Adheres to performance appraisal process
  • Oversees department programs and initiatives to assure compliance, optimization and continuous improvement
