About The Position

The Manager of the Laboratory at Novant Health is responsible for providing leadership to achieve corporate objectives related to quality, financial performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction. This role involves compliance with regulatory standards, participation in Best Practice committees, and oversight of laboratory operations, including budget preparation and service level standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field from an accredited university.
• 2-4 years of generalist experience in a community hospital setting, including Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.
• 8 years of relevant laboratory technology and/or leadership experience preferred.
• MLS (ASCP or AMT) certification required.
• Knowledge of current medical terminology and laboratory equipment.
• Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests and quality control checks.

Nice To Haves

• Specialist certification from accrediting agencies (BB, C, CG, CT, H, HTL, M, MB).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in achieving corporate objectives including quality, financial vitality, employee, and customer satisfaction.
• Serve as a key member or lead on Best Practice committees for laboratory services.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and recommend appropriate organizational structures and personnel plans for the laboratory.
• Assist in the development and execution of an equipment plan for the laboratory.
• Oversee the preparation of and manage department budgets.
• Foster a safe patient environment driven by the principles of 'First Do No Harm'.
• Deliver remarkable patient experiences in every dimension, every time.
