About The Position

This role leads the export logistics processes for the US region. You support regional implementation of global initiatives by resourcing and networking with other departments to support successful outcomes. You will ensure effective, efficient, and compliant export shipping execution is followed on all shipments for the region. In addition, you will ensure coordination with other departments like customer service, sales, operations, supply chain, regulatory, and trade compliance. You will develop, maintain, and communicate critical metrics; financial, carrier and freight forwarder performance, and associated industry trends. You will facilitate sharing of key performance indicators and metrics. You will be responsible for relationships with various international carriers (NVOCC's, steamship lines, freight forwarders, drayage carriers) in both day-to-day operations, volume planning, and contract negotiations. In addition, you will conduct routine performance reviews with key vendors, ensuring auditable tracking of actions and resolutions.

Requirements

  • 4 yr. bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in international, multi-site, global logistics leadership.
  • Subject matter expert in all international regulatory and compliance policies, procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to communicate ideas, instructions, and information so they are clearly understood by others in formal or informal situations; writes clear, concise memos, letters and instructions which others can understand.
  • Highly effective people and team leadership skills in handling conflict management, customer relations and motivation of employees. Ability to build and maintain internal and external customer relationships based on trust and value.
  • Intimate knowledge of and hands-on experience using ERP systems like Oracle, SAP, and integrated transportation management system (TMS) applications.
  • Competency in the use of computers and software for business transactions, data analysis, and communication. Fully proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Project management and planning skills to implement the strategic direction and tactical plans in support of business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, to work effectively across functional lines without formal authority, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to make consequential decision.
  • Strong desire to be a change agent in a climate resistant to change.

Nice To Haves

  • NCBFAA Educational Institute (NEI) certifications i.e..: (CCS/MCS, CES/MES) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate vendor (vessel and NVOCC) contracts for US export container shipping commensurate with market conditions (ie.: Drewry index). Manage the export freight processes and activities to assure effective and efficient delivery of products and services to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide comprehensive and accurate US export freight pricing forecast for customer price quotes.
  • Set supplier policies, standard operating procedures and measurements to insure credibility and reliability of service to customers. Redefine business practices and standards as necessary.
  • Develop measures, analyze service levels and identify productivity improvements within US export process and the process interfaces. Propose changes, gain approval and implement improvements.
  • Ensure that all complaints and feedback are handled quickly and to the satisfaction of the customer. Analyze complaints on regular basis for trends and reoccurrence. Publish findings and recommendations.
  • Reporting of cost and service and KPI's to commercial team and other stakeholders.
  • Approve all export freight bills and assure that freight invoices match contracted rates and are paid accurately and timely.
  • Identify skill gaps; develop education and training plans and development activities to ensure critical skills and expertise are maintained.
  • Lead cross SBU international trade council to oversee policy, procedure, best practices.
  • Responsible for investigating, identifying, analyzing, developing and in some cases implementing world class logistics information systems which can be used to reduced corporate supply chain costs while maintaining or improving service in line with departmental goals.
  • Work collaboratively within diverse and complex regional supply chains to ensure efficient logistics operations to support the continued growth of our commercial business throughout the global market.
