About The Position

The Manager, Inflight Policy & Procedure leads the development, documentation and communication of all company and regulatory policy and procedures for the Inflight Division at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Hawaiian Airlines (HA). This Manager is responsible for ensuring policy and procedures are accurately documented in the manual, communicated to employees, and coordinates with training to ensure continued compliance with safety, company and regulatory requirements. This Manager owns safety as the number one priority.

Requirements

• 5 years of combined airline operations and policy and procedure experience, or related area.
• 2 years of leadership experience.
• A bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
• Ability to complete Alaska Airlines’ initial training/IOE, hold FAA flight attendant certificate, and remain qualified through recurrent training.
• Demonstrated experience developing policy and procedures documentation.
• Excellent communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) and collaborative skills.
• Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to execute on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key.
• Skilled at making and defending tough decisions, while demonstrating care and concern for the opinions of others, both inside and outside the organization.
• Excels at understanding and making decisions on complex regulatory, contractual and personnel issues.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 2 years of flight attendant experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of FAA/compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages the development, maintenance and distribution of the Flight Attendant Manual (FAM), bulletins/revisions and other Inflight policy manuals and handbooks by ensuring the manuals accurately reflect current policies and procedures and are consistent with other Company manuals.
• Work closely with the Director Inflight Safety, Standards, & Compliance and apply knowledge of appropriate FAA Advisory Circulars, CFR, and applicable regulatory guidance to ensure all AS & HA Inflight policy and procedures meet all regulatory requirements.
• Responsible for the drafting of clear, concise, and thorough policies and procedures for flight attendants, ensuring safety and compliance in all aspects of policy and procedure communications.
• Review and develop policy and procedures based on inflight safety data.
• Develop Inflight standards based on policy and procedures.
• Ensure Inflight training programs are training to the Inflight standards.
• Serves as the focal point for all new/revised Inflight policies and procedures to ensure consistency and consensus across manuals in support of the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Ensures coordination of and subsequent communication of changes to Inflight processes, procedures, and manuals by supporting the flight attendant Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), ensures the principles of the Safety Management System (SMS) are followed, and conducting Inflight coordination meetings.
• Leads and mentors a team of Policy and Procedure Specialists by assigning work, setting expectations, establishing accountability, and reviewing performance.
• Represents Inflight with other divisions and departments in the development and review of policy and procedures.
• Holds the authority to make decisions regarding policy and procedures.
• Executes and participates in Safety Risk Management (SRM) as well as policy and procedures changes driven by incident reports.
• Identifies opportunities for new or improved procedures based on evaluating effectiveness of current procedures, audits, observations, feedback from employees.
