About The Position
WGL is seeking a Manager, Income Tax and Reporting to lead complex income tax accounting and compliance processes that keep our business running smoothly. This is a highly technical role with significant visibility across Finance and Operations and a clear path for upward mobility.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in tax accounting; regulated utility experience highly desirable
- Deep knowledge of ASC 740 and tax compliance
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex scenarios
- Experience with ERP systems (PeopleSoft) and Corptax preferred
- Ability to effectively evaluate multiple scenarios and to assist in implementing effective solutions to broadly defined business problems.
- Ability to communicate complex messages to diverse audiences at all organization levels
- Master’s degree or CPA required (CPA strongly preferred).

Responsibilities
- Own the income tax accounting process under ASC 740 and regulatory reporting requirements
- Manage tax provisioning and compliance workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Review journal entries and work prepared by senior staff; approve and guide improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on rate case data and regulatory filings
- Drive process enhancements and system optimization for tax reporting
