Assist in overseeing yard operations and yard personnel in order to achieve a successful balance of customer satisfaction and yard profitability. Supervises employees appropriately & effectively. $23 - $25 per hour, annual performance based raises! Essential Duties & Responsibilities Training Track Learn all applicable computer applications, achieve forklift license, receive certification for propane dispensing and understand general policies and procedures. Work in the yard at a branch to be determined in order to get a good understanding of the Yard and its functions. Work in Receiving, Dispatch and Distribution in order to be familiar with the policies and procedures within these departments. Participate in counter sales to learn the products and customers. Participate in inside and outside contractor sales, learning the policies and procedures along with products and customers. Work in and observe specialized departments such as kitchen and bath, door and windows and the flooring department in order to become familiar with products and vendors. Understand the roles and meet members of each corporate department to include Accounting, Credit, A/R, Human Resources, Purchasing, Special Orders, IS, Advertising and Loss Control. Attend vendor specific training as scheduled during the training period. Learn how to utilize financial reports and data to manage and make business decisions. Through observation, hands on training and mentoring develop a firm understanding of safety management, store operations, EOD, inventory management, inventory procurement, employee management, merchandising, advertising, GM, and expense management.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of lumber yard operations is a must along with managerial, communication, and organization skills.
