As a Smart Shop Exempt Department Manager, you will oversee department operations which could include perishable departments, center store, Inventory Flow, Receiving, and Shelf Edge, with a specific emphasis in your area of expertise. (I.e. produce, market, front end.)

Requirements

• Completion of H-E-B's or JVSS's Management Training Program.
• Operational/Retail Management experience.
• Leadership experience in a complex environment with multiple direct reports.
• Thorough understanding of retail accounting.
• Experience in ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control.
• Strong leadership skills including people leadership, ownership mentality, strategic planning, and adaptability.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Use independent judgment in making employment-related and business decisions.
• Manage people, staffing, and training for area of focus.
• Review and analyze financial and performance reports, identifying and following up on opportunities/issues.
• Manage Operational Review Team (ORT) related audits and findings.
• Conduct detailed store and/or department walks.
• Maintain work instructions for area of focus.
• Monitor and report on inventory estimates and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) accounting.
• Create weekly schedules to meet the needs of the business.
• Ensure proper order and inventory levels within your department.
• Order product and perform quality control.
• Participate in the store leadership team to ensure coordination, integration, and alignment of total store plans.
• Manage operations in area of focus; monitor craftsmanship, shrink, safety, and quality assurance.
• Create actionable plans and follow up on 'What Ifs'.
• Focus on Partner/customer relationships, collaboration, communication, and education.
• Model/cultivate superior customer service across store departments.
• Identify and develop future talent.
• Lead the inventory flow team to maximize productivity and efficiencies.
• Ensure customer service with efficient throughput at the front end.
• Ensure all front end operating procedures are followed.
• Ensure food safety compliance and Partner safety requirements are followed in meat market operations.
• Plan and execute production plans and merchandising programs to drive sales in produce and bakery.
• Ensure proper store close, evening replenishment, and appropriate store conditions are maintained.
• Accountable for all safety programs and regulations.
• Manage and responsible for Store Recovery Team.
