About The Position

Join our Amazon Security Experience (ASE) Team as a Manager of Software
Development, where you'll lead efforts to deliver a converged Security Review
Experience for all Amazonians. This critical role requires a strategic leader
who can work across Amazon's diverse businesses, understanding their unique
needs and building tools that optimize their ability to develop secure software
and hardware services.

Your expertise in communication, security knowledge, and proven experience
delivering technical solutions at cloud scale will be instrumental in ensuring
that all builders across Amazon meet the Amazon Security Bar. You'll collaborate
with teams throughout the company, gaining exposure to diverse technologies
while making a significant impact on Amazon's security posture.

The Amazon Security Experience (ASE) Team is dedicated to building tools that
ensure builders across Amazon create software and hardware services that meet
the Amazon Security Bar. Our mission is critical to protecting Amazon's
customers, data, and systems through consistent security practices. We work with
teams spanning every corner of Amazon, which gives our team members exposure to
diverse technologies and business domains while making a significant impact on
the company's overall security posture. As we continue to innovate, we're
focused on creating scalable, intuitive solutions that make security best
practices accessible to all builders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Nice To Haves

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale software initiatives that create a converged security review experience across Amazon, balancing tactical needs against strategic goals.
• Build and nurture a high-performing engineering team through effective hiring, coaching, and career development while fostering an inclusive environment where engineers collaborate to achieve ambitious goals.
• Partner with multiple teams across Amazon's diverse businesses to understand their unique workflows and develop tools that enhance their ability to build secure software and hardware services.
• Establish audit mechanisms and metrics to measure your team's performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate progress to stakeholders across the organization.
• Create mechanisms to scale security review processes, delegating effectively while maintaining ownership and staying connected to the technical details that ensure all Amazon builders meet the security bar.
