About The Position

The Materials Manager at BOSS Snowplow is responsible for establishing and executing the long-term materials planning strategy for the Iron Mountain facility. This role ensures day-to-day supply continuity and oversees the Materials organization, which includes planning, scheduling, production control, inventory management, and overall material flow. The position requires collaboration with the leadership team to address materials-related issues and leads the supply planning process as part of the Integrated Business Planning system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business or similar field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in various materials and supply chain disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in budgeting, production control, inventory control, and material planning.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills with direct supervisory experience.
  • Strong management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Progressive experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating growth in position and/or responsibility.
  • Experience implementing various material signaling concepts such as kanban, min/max, ROP, MRP.
  • Proven experience implementing Lean material flow concepts and tools such as PFEP, pull systems, and scheduling boards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex situations and problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse individuals.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, able to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems.
  • Systems experience with shop floor control.
  • APICS or other Materials Planning certification.
  • Experience with Lean principles, tools, and systems such as Value Stream Mapping and Root Cause Analysis.
  • IBP/SIOP experience in a supply planning capacity.
  • Lean practitioner and/or Six Sigma certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long and short-range production plans to meet customer on-time delivery while optimizing inventory and manpower resources.
  • Lead the development of the Master Production Schedule through collaboration with other functional groups.
  • Ensure the Master Scheduler has all models assigned to Iron Mountain, scheduled efficiently to optimize site capacity and accurately reflected in SAP.
  • Responsible for capacity/load management in all areas of the manufacturing floor.
  • Lead material flow strategy and execution utilizing Lean manufacturing principles, including PFEP, KANBAN, Pull, MRP, ROP, etc.
  • Assure all needed materials to support the Master Schedule are planned, expedited, warehoused, and distributed cost-effectively.
  • Maintain JIT policies and programs necessary to support inventory goals.
  • Manage flow of raw and subcontract material from suppliers and team with sourcing group to meet delivery and cost objectives.
  • Account for accuracy of inventory and conduct statistical inventory audits during each fiscal year.
  • Serve as the Supplier Point of Contact, responsible for supplier performance and execution against open orders.
  • Manage day-to-day requisitions, SAP exceptions triggers, and orders.
  • Drive down to root cause and corrective action for every Down notification and follow Down notification process.
  • Ensure service parts are produced and shipped per required due date to maintain a 98% or higher fill rate.
  • Coordinate the reworking of parts and material to meet changes in requirements due to TEO's, ECM's, and TCN's.
  • Incorporate customer demand fluctuations into production plan and provide feedback when issues develop.
  • Manage necessary material handling activities to support the shop floor, shipping, and receiving while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Responsible for shipping finished products in accordance with Toro and Federal transportation regulations.
  • Create standards for Materials planning master data in SAP and ensure compliance with agreed parameters.
