About The Position

Bits AI for Security is our AI-powered assistant that leverages large language models (LLMs) to help analysts investigate alerts, understand threats, and respond faster. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager I to lead the team building the next generation of AI-driven security capabilities. What You’ll Do: Lead and grow a talented engineering team working at the intersection of security, AI, and product innovation. Partner closely with product managers, security experts, and AI researchers to design and deliver AI Agents (LLM-powered) that drive real value for our customers. Guide the team in building production-ready systems that combine Datadog’s security platform with GenAI models, agents, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines. Coach and develop senior engineers and managers, fostering a culture of high performance, inclusion, and psychological safety Own the delivery of critical product initiatives, ensuring technical excellence, reliability, and alignment with Datadog’s high bar for security. Participate in hiring and organizational planning for future growth Promote best practices in machine learning, AI engineering, operational standards, and career development across the organization Who You Are: An experienced technical leader with a strong background in AI, machine learning, or data science Experience leading and mentoring multiple teams, including senior engineers and engineering managers Knowledgeable about LLM technologies (prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, agents) and how to apply them in real-world, production-grade systems. Comfortable with backend or full-stack development in a cloud-based SaaS environment. Strong in communication and collaboration, able to align engineers, product managers, and researchers around shared goals. A strong people manager, able to attract, develop, and retain top AI and engineering talent Bonus Points: Excited to work in the security domain, with an understanding of how analysts investigate threats and alerts (security background is a strong plus). Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI API, Hugging Face, etc.). Contributions to AI/ML infrastructure or applied GenAI products. Requirements

  • An experienced technical leader with a strong background in AI, machine learning, or data science
