About The Position

The Ready Mix Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of ready mix concrete production and delivery operations. This includes managing plant production, fleet operations, staff supervision, safety compliance, quality assurance, budgeting, and customer service. The role ensures operational efficiency, high product quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in ready mix or construction materials operations, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete production, batching, and delivery processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency with operational software (e.g., batching systems, dispatching platforms, MS Office).
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily ready mix operations across one or multiple plant locations.
  • Ensure efficient production and delivery of concrete to meet customer demands and schedules.
  • Manage plant maintenance schedules and ensure equipment reliability and functionality.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate procurement with suppliers.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate plant personnel, including plant operators, batchers, drivers, and maintenance staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Schedule staff and manage workloads to optimize labor efficiency.
  • Work with quality control teams to maintain high product standards and meet required specifications.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality or delivery.
  • Ensure all operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, EPA).
  • Enforce safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Collaborate with dispatchers, sales teams, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Address client concerns and foster strong relationships with contractors and builders.
  • Manage operational budgets, control costs, and seek efficiencies.
  • Analyze performance metrics and prepare reports on plant performance, safety, and productivity.
