About The Position

As the DBA Manager specializing in SQL Server, will be responsible for leading a team of Senior and Junior Level Database Administrators in the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring and performance of critical database systems, to ensure high availability and consistent performance of our database platforms. The Database Administration team provides 24x7 production support for all database systems ensuring their database integrity, security and availability. You will be a hands-on leader, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, performance optimization, and strategic planning for our SQL Server databases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or 7+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and SQL Server performance optimization.
  • Experience with high availability solutions such as clustering, AlwaysOn, and replication.
  • Strong understanding of backup and recovery strategies.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Availability for 24x7 on-call support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of SQL Server Database Administrators, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Database Administration: Ensure the 24x7 availability, security, and performance of SQL Server database systems, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and patch management.
  • Performance Tuning: Proactively identify and resolve performance issues, optimizing queries, and database configurations to enhance system efficiency.
  • High Availability: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as clustering, AlwaysOn, and replication to minimize downtime.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Security and Compliance: Enforce database security best practices, monitor access controls, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth trends and plan for scalability, making hardware and infrastructure recommendations as needed.
  • Emergency Response: Be on-call to address critical database incidents and outages, leading the team in troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and incident reports.
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with database software and service providers, evaluating and recommending tools and solutions as necessary.
