About The Position

The Regional Safety Manager leads operations in areas of injury prevention, task assessment, safety communications, hazardous materials storage and transportation compliance, and regulatory compliance. This is completed by developing, implementing, and managing company safety programs, policies and procedures to create a safe, secure, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This position will need to ensure that the Groups' Health, Safety & Environmental Policies & Procedures are specific within the DSV Solutions environment and that sites are complying with all statutory requirements (including but not limited to OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001:2004) where applicable.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a medium to large warehouse or manufacturing facility in a HSE management capacity supervising 2 or more employees.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational, Health, and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards in the United States.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs that drive tangible improvements.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Applications.
  • English (reading, writing, and verbal); Bilingual (Preferred).
  • Intermediate skills are required, as well as the functional use of spreadsheets to develop trends and track reactions to safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Conducts pre-operational risk assessments on any RFP, new sites, design, propose and implement risk mitigation measures within the region.
  • Manage and mentor a team of health and safety professionals within the region.
  • Creates a positive partnership with Facility Leadership and serves as point of contact for safety related matters while ensuring safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions. Follows up to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • DSV representative for OSHA, EPA, FDA, or other State and Federal regulatory agencies and address any issues that may arise on a site level for the applicable region.
  • Fosters teamwork and pride in the company safety program.
  • Ensures compliance with local Health, Safety & Environmental laws & by laws as well as customer specific requirements.
  • Assists in the coordination in the investigation of any incident or HSE complaint (employee, customer, client, and contractors); reviews and analyzes these accidents and near miss incidents and make corrective action recommendations working together with site safety designees.
  • Coordinates with site safety managers/representatives to ensure Health, Safety, & Environment system plans are in alignment with Quality Management Systems policies and procedures.
  • Ensures implementation of emergency procedures (EAP & BCP).
  • Coordinates and delivers HSE training regionally (where and when required).
  • Ensures that all sites risk registers within the region are up to date and that the following are current and on file: Routine / Non-routine risks, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessments.
  • Assists in the publication of the year end OSHA 300 log for the applicable regions.
  • Assists in the completion of OSHA surveys.
  • Assisting in the administration of the Workers' Compensation.
  • Prepare and maintain documents outlining the procedures for proper storage and handling of Hazardous Materials at all applicable facilities.
  • Oversee transportation of hazardous materials in compliance with EPA & DOT/PHMSA/IMDG/IATA regulations.
  • Develop and implement a proper training regimen for employees as required by law for shipping, handling, and storage of Hazardous Materials.
