About the position

The Manager, Handicapping Education and Engagement will educate various stakeholders about the World Handicap System, boost engagement among its users, and attract new golfers to obtain a Handicap Index. Reporting to the Director, Handicapping Education & Outreach, this role will also provide support for the USGA's Golfer Product Access (GPA) program. The Manager, Handicapping Education and Engagement will work collaboratively within the Handicapping team and across the USGA, and work on WHS education and communications projects with The R&A.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal team, The R&A partners, and third-party vendors where appropriate to create educational programming on the Rules of Handicapping and Course Rating System; Creating original educational content for AGA, club, and golfer audiences.
  • Lead in-person and/or online training seminars on the Rules of Handicapping for AGAs, golf clubs, and other industry stakeholders; Assist with revisions to the Rules of Handicapping in cooperation with other staff in the department, including the review of any related materials or online content.
  • Utilize analytics, golfer segmentation analysis and trends to enhance and streamline future content creation and distribution; Develop, implement, and evaluate campaigns to engage with a domestic audience and grow the number of golfers with a Handicap Index.
  • Assist with GPA program administrative support for third party technology providers interested in integrating handicap data into their products and services.
  • Assist with the management and administration of education programs and/or learning management systems (including content/user management, system maintenance, and troubleshooting); Oversee the layout and content on all usga.org and whs.com handicapping webpages; Contribute to other handicap department projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of golf, the Rules of Handicapping and Course Rating System, the golf industry, and Allied Golf Associations is strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of tools to develop effective training content and programs (i.e. Articulate, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Knowledge of social media content trends
  • Ability to analyze, think critically, and problem solve
  • Experience with public speaking in both small and large group settings
  • Shows personal initiative and thrives in a collaborative environment
