About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Grants Management Supervisor to manage grants management staff and oversee pre-award and post-award processes for a large and diverse volume of grant portfolios. This role involves supervising and mentoring Grants Management Specialists, developing proposal budgets, producing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with sponsor regulations. The position requires collaboration with Principal Investigators (PIs) to manage project finances and establish grant accounts, while also working closely with Psychiatry Finance and Research Leadership to develop and communicate finance policies and procedures. The Grants Management Supervisor will resolve complex problems and ensure that grant project needs are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Previous grants administration experience in higher education preferred.
  • Leadership and excellent organizational skills required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required.
  • Familiarity with federal NIH-grant reporting mechanisms required.
  • Proficiency in database management and reporting software preferred.
  • Experience in scientific grant/manuscript preparation assistance preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • CLASP certification within 12 months required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage grants management staff and oversee pre-award and post-award processes for grant portfolios.
  • Supervise and mentor Grants Management Specialists.
  • Develop proposal budgets and produce financial reports to monitor the financial health of research projects.
  • Work with PIs to manage project finances and establish grant accounts.
  • Oversee purchasing and research staffing, and monitor grant expenditures for compliance.
  • Collaborate with Psychiatry Finance and Research Leadership to develop finance policies and procedures.
  • Resolve complex problems related to grants management.
  • Review monthly reconciliation reports and assess trends.
  • Create financial reports based on sponsor requirements.
  • Liaise with ORPA and ORACS for setup and closeout of Psychiatry awards.
  • Provide training and guidance on grant submission and management systems.
