About The Position

The role of Manager, Golden State Sports Academy requires high level enthusiasm with a passion for sports and the game of basketball. In this role, you will play a key role in the strategic planning, execution and oversight of all Academy programming. Additionally, you will help create a fun, safe, healthy, and community-focused culture that delivers high participant/parent satisfaction and achieves maximum impact & profitability. This role reports to the Director, Golden State Sports Academy. This is a full-time position based onsite in Oakland, CA with travel throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years playing/coaching basketball and/or experience in the local youth basketball community
  • Experience with program planning/execution, customer service, marketing & promotion, and staff development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Google Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and resolution skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with clients and peers at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on program planning, operations, policies and procedures (emergency and safety)
  • Passionate about youth basketball development/grass roots youth sports and the opportunity to impact lives
  • Ability to extend arms in any direction
  • Ability to be subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body and/or its parts
  • Ability to exert up to 40 lbs. of force
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule as extended hours, weekends, and holidays may be required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee regional camp planning and scheduling, managing all facility logistics (agreements, insurance requests and payment processing), and serve as the primary liaison with each facility to maximize court utilization and revenue
  • Direct GSSA programming, including camps and clinics, specialized on-court training and other skill development sessions, ensuring seamless execution driving program success through hands-on leadership and diligent oversight of event setup and breakdown
  • Collaborate with internal Golden State departments to lead the promotion of Academy programming, leveraging multi-channel marketing (e.g., digital, social, in-arena, and broadcast) to increase brand visibility
  • Leverage data-driven insights and deep knowledge of the youth basketball landscape to create innovative programs and basketball experiences for GSSA participants, potential partners and the community
  • Manage and mentor a diverse camp staff, driving organizational vision through continuous staff development and rigorous performance assessments
  • Scale year-round girls’ programming by designing a comprehensive calendar and curriculum, transforming the initiative into a viable revenue stream through strategic paid programs and partnerships
  • Fulfill Golden State corporate partner obligations by facilitating all basketball-related activations tied to partnerships, community events, and public relations efforts
  • Elevate the customer experience through proactive communication and strategic staff training, ensuring the team possesses expert-level knowledge across all program offerings
  • Oversee day-to-day Junior League partner relations, proactively addressing stakeholder needs and streamlining all program deliverables
  • Optimize ticket credit redemption process with emphasis on maintaining high redemption rate and driving incremental revenue
