About The Position

The Lower Colorado River Authority is seeking a strategic, innovative and highly skilled Manager of GIS to lead our Geographic Information Systems team in our Austin, TX office. In this position, you will be a pivotal figure in leading all aspects of the development, implementation and maintenance of GIS architecture, solutions and deliverables that support organizational decision-making, operational efficiency and long-term planning. As the GIS Manager, you will guide a group of GIS professionals, collaborate with cross-functional departments and drive the adoption of powerful geospatial tools, technologies and processes. If you are passionate about leading innovative teams, implementing processes that integrate geospatial information resulting in actionable insights and strive to provide excellent customer service, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • Twelve or more years of experience in geographic information systems (GIS), including a minimum of four years' experience developing, implementing, maintaining, or managing a comprehensive geographic information system, with a minimum of three years supervisory/leadership experience or other relevant experience. A degree(s) in geography, geographic information systems (GIS), computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Develops workgroup and staff strategic and operational plans, goals, objectives, priorities, processes and procedures that are in alignment with the strategic plan, goals and objectives of LCRA, the business unit and the business unit area.
  • Provides overall leadership, monitors progress, reports progress and ensures timely completion of GIS projects. Leads, guides, directs and assists with planning and designing complex GIS projects.
  • Develops and manages workgroup budget. Ensure expenditures are appropriate and within approved workgroup budget. Monitors workgroup budget performance.
  • Provides technical leadership and mentor's staff. Maintains thorough knowledge of GIS architecture, software, applications and data. Maintains awareness of technical developments, industry trends and/or regulatory processes that may impact GIS.
