About The Position

As a member of the Global Design (GD) General Accounting team, the Manager will oversee the end-to-end accounting, administration, reporting, analysis, and control processes for multiple GD Segments and consolidated reporting. This position ensures reporting complies with US GAAP, accounting information, reporting, and analytical needs of the assigned areas are met, and ensures timely and accurate accounting services are provided to internal and external customers. The Manager will collaborate with the various FBP and Accounting teams within the assigned GD segments, as well as counterparts within other CFA disciplines to accomplish business objectives, working in a dynamic multi-currency, multi-entity environment. Additionally, this role is responsible for fully leveraging technology and resources to institute and maintain world class processes that balance efficiency with specified service levels. A successful candidate in this role should have the ability to both work independently and in a team setting, and should have strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. This position will need to build and maintain key relationships, identify issues, recommend solutions, and implement resolutions. This position will be based at MI Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline required
  • 5+ years professional experience in GAAP accounting
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills required
  • Must be an initiative-taker, capable of identifying needs/requirements and taking independent action

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a business relationship with Segment FBPs and Accounting teams, in order to properly record all transactions in the General Ledger and produce accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Provide primary support for all financial issues for the assigned Segments.
  • Identify financial risks and exposures and follow up with Segment leaders to address outstanding issues and concerns.
  • Implement company policies, GAAP, and Global Design business changes.
  • Responsible for reviewing and issuing the Segment monthly financial package, including all P&L reports, explanations, variance analysis, and supporting documents.
  • Review monthly General Ledger and P&L reports, preparing adjusting journal entries as required to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
  • Ensure foreign currency transactions are accurately reflected in the financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and/or review and approve assigned monthly project related balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and 340 regarding Revenue and Cost Recognition.
  • Manage tracking of key financial metrics for financial and operational functions, including project counts and FTEs, ensuring accuracy in reporting. Identify and communicate trends and progress against initiatives.
  • Implement and manage monitoring of cost saving and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Serve as liaison with respective project accounting personnel and FBPs on project or other financial issues that may impact operating results.
  • Prepare various analysis files weekly and daily during close.
  • Review and submit all MIGL and EPM chartfield maintenance requests including combo edits, account maintenance, and nVision layout modifications.
  • Manage MIGL allocation maintenance ensuring updates are made on an annual basis in accordance with the budget or when needed.
  • Monitor and clear all suspense journals.
  • Monitor balances in MEXOUT and FALLOUT projects to ensure amounts are cleared to correct projects on a timely basis.
  • Assist the Sr. Director with month end, quarterly, and annual reporting responsibilities as assigned.
  • Pull OnDemand reports and perform high level review, noting inconsistencies and large variances.
  • Prepare monthly project review file for Project Accountants.
  • Drive process improvement opportunities utilizing consistent tools and processes by using technology and industry best practices.
  • Support system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Partner with Senior Management in ad-hoc initiatives and projects.
