About The Position

As a Galvanizing Manager at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in leading the day-to-day operations of the galvanizing department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This position requires strong operational leadership, analytical thinking, and team development skills, and offers the opportunity to directly impact production targets, cost control, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will collaborate with production planning, maintenance, contractors, and cross-functional partners to ensure operational excellence, drive KPI performance, and maintain high safety and quality standards. This is a full-time, onsite role located in Wheatland, PA. This role is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accountability and metrics, and leads with a strong safety-first mindset.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in Operations, Production, or Manufacturing Management; galvanizing experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize complex business challenges
Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities
Professional communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels
Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency
Commitment to promoting safe work practices in compliance with regulatory and company standards
Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance

Responsibilities

Enforces safety, legal, and quality standards to ensure all work complies with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Leads and develops team members through coaching, mentoring, performance monitoring, and formal performance reviews.
Assigns and directs daily work activities by providing clear expectations and timely instructions to ensure efficient operations.
Develops and manages departmental KPIs including productivity, utilization, throughput, quality, and continuous improvement metrics.
Manages departmental operating costs including consumables, repairs and maintenance, and manpower to achieve budget targets.
Achieves monthly and annual production targets within established cost and time parameters.
Maintains galvanizing facility operations while identifying capital investment needs and ensuring timely project completion.
Coordinates routine outages and maintenance schedules in partnership with production planning and contractors.
Provides technical guidance during operations and equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
