About The Position

Freedom Center at the University of Arizona is in search of a Manager, Freedom Center Communications & Marketing. The Manager, Freedom Center Communications & Marketing will promote effective communication between the Center and its students, employees, alumni, and the public to advance the Center's vision. The Manager, Freedom Center Communications & Marketing plans, develops, implements, and directs an effective and strategic communications, advertising, public relations, and external relations program for the Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, implementing and managing strategic communication initiatives for the Center.
  • Writes content that creates a high impact online presence for the University's Freedom Center while promoting the institution's strategic priorities.
  • Writes news releases and media advisories and assists with distribution to media outlets.
  • Pitches relevant content to reporters and journalists and responds to media requests.
  • Responsible for translating complex research findings into relevant, engaging content, and utilizing various platforms to promote public understanding of the Center's faculty research.
  • Performs interviews on behalf of the Center as needed and collaborates at events requiring subject matter knowledge and access to senior level individuals such as legislators, senators, etc.
  • Serves as the Center's point of contact for members of the media.
  • Leads, plans, implements and executes marketing activities, campaigns and events (includes press releases, advertising, promotions, websites).
  • Makes recommendations for improvement and impact to Management.
  • Develops marketing strategies and delivers marketing messages with the intent of promoting the Center and its programs effectively and strategically using a proper tone/voice, given the audience, the University and the goal of the communication.
  • Develops and utilizes best practices for storing and use of marketing content and material in both physical and digital formats.
  • Uses video, photography, creative and social media and expand the scope of written content to develop high-impact multimedia products including videos, animations, infographics, etc.
  • Analyzes digital analytics and develops communications actions to improve marketing campaign performance providing solutions to discovered challenges.
  • Should have strong writing, editorial and proofing skills with a knowledge of all Writing and Citation Styles to assist in drafting speeches, press releases, newsletters, and other outward facing collateral.
  • Present recommendations for improvement and communication strategies to Center leadership.
  • Manages the Center's social media interactions, leads social media projects and develops content for social media.
  • Supports the Center's outreach platforms, including website, social media, newsletter, etc.
  • Collaborates on setting standards for production and overall quality of multimedia materials, ensuring that they produce desired outcomes.
  • Serves as team leader for professional and/or support staff; supervises one staff member, may oversee others as needed.
  • Possesses a full range and depth of professional knowledge and experience which allows them to work independently while leading lower-level staff.
  • Builds and delivers training.
  • May provide input to management for performance assessments for lower-level staff.
  • May supervise students and interns.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
