About The Position

The Manager, FLRAA Software Safety Engineering at Bell Textron Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the software safety process, analyses, and personnel for the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program. This position is integral to the development of advanced aviation technologies, including the Bell 525 Relentless and the High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program. The manager will lead efforts in professional development of internal talent, sourcing additional talent as needed, and providing critical input to the overall master schedule. This role requires the identification, development, and tracking of required deliverables while managing and communicating the system safety methodology to both internal and external customers. In this position, the manager will be at the forefront of implementing emerging safety techniques such as Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). The role involves ensuring compliance with safety processes defined in AMCOM 385-17, DO-178C, DO-254, and MIL STD-882E. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the customer's mission and demonstrate a passion for ensuring safety and success in the workplace. Key responsibilities include managing the MIL-STD-882E software system safety process, providing technical oversight for the Software Safety Team, and planning and verifying software safety requirements and analysis artifacts. The manager will also be responsible for estimating budgets, managing manpower resources, and representing Bell in military and industry working groups focused on system safety. This position requires a proactive approach to influencing air vehicle design to enhance safety features and conducting safety analyses in coordination with engineering efforts.
