About The Position

The Manager - Fleet Services - Maintenance & Damage position is responsible for assisting the SC City Manager in the overall performance of the fleet services function, focusing on servicing, vehicle damage repair, and the in-fleeting/de-fleeting of rental vehicles. The goal is to maximize fleet utilization and profitability for the City/District. The role includes developing and implementing operating plans, managing team performance, assessing daily workloads, ensuring compliance with repair orders, and managing financial drivers related to fleet services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; 2-4 year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in a related field (rental car, automotive shop, or service-oriented field).
  • Valid driver's license and successful background check.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and oversee multiple work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and communicates operating plans to maximize fleet utilization.
  • Directs and controls maintenance, vehicle damage repair, and reconditioning of fleet vehicles.
  • Manages performance of team members against business plan by setting and monitoring goals.
  • Assesses out of service, new car, and deletions areas daily to establish workload.
  • Holds daily pre-shift meetings with team members to review performance and communicate goals.
  • Ensures all repair orders are completed and processed according to guidelines.
  • Ensures timely completion of recalls, preventative maintenance, and quality of repairs.
  • Forecasts, budgets, and manages key financial drivers.
  • Coordinates automotive damage appraisals/repairs and documentation.
  • Assists in vendor relationships and workload assignment.
  • Ensures proper use of purchase orders and timely payment of invoices.
  • Oversees the repair and maintenance of all buses at bussing locations.
  • Manages all areas of the employee lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Provides a safe work environment by ensuring safety policies are followed.
