About The Position

The Manager - Fleet Services - Maintenance & Damage is responsible for assisting the SC City Manager in the overall performance of the fleet services function, focusing on servicing, vehicle damage repair, and the in-fleeting/de-fleeting of rental vehicles to maximize fleet utilization and profitability for the City/District. The role involves developing and implementing operating plans, managing team performance, assessing daily workloads, ensuring compliance with repair orders, and managing financial drivers. The manager will also oversee vendor relationships, maintain safety standards, and manage the employee lifecycle to foster a high-performance culture.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; 2-4 year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in related field (rental car, automotive shop, or service-oriented field).
  • Valid driver’s license and successful background check.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and oversee multiple work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and communicates operating plans to maximize fleet utilization.
  • Directs and controls maintenance, vehicle damage repair, and reconditioning of fleet vehicles.
  • Manages performance of team members against business plan by setting and monitoring goals.
  • Assesses out of service, new car and deletions areas daily to establish workload.
  • Holds daily pre-shift meetings with team members to review performance and communicate goals.
  • Ensures all repair orders are completed and processed according to guidelines.
  • Forecasts, budgets and manages key financial drivers.
  • Coordinates automotive damage appraisals/repairs and related activities.
  • Assists in vendor relationships and workload assignment.
  • Maintains up to date files on vendor insurance policies.
  • Oversees the repair and/or maintenance of all busses at bussing locations.
  • Manages all areas of the employee lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Implements HR policies and practices consistently and fairly.
  • Provides a safe work environment by ensuring safety policies are followed.
