About The Position

The Manager - Fleet Services - Maintenance & Damage is responsible for assisting the SC City Manager in the overall performance of the fleet services function, focusing on servicing, vehicle damage repair, and the in-fleeting/de-fleeting of rental vehicles to maximize fleet utilization and profitability for the City/District. The role involves developing and implementing operating plans, managing team performance, assessing daily workloads, ensuring compliance with repair orders, and managing financial drivers related to fleet services. The manager will also oversee vendor relationships, employee lifecycle management, and ensure a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; 2-4 year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and successful background check.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and oversee multiple work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and communicates operating plans to maximize fleet utilization.
  • Directs and controls maintenance, vehicle damage repair, and reconditioning of fleet vehicles.
  • Manages performance of team members against business plans by setting and monitoring goals.
  • Assesses out of service, new car, and deletions areas daily to establish workload.
  • Holds daily pre-shift meetings to review performance and communicate goals.
  • Ensures all repair orders are completed and processed according to guidelines.
  • Forecasts, budgets, and manages key financial drivers.
  • Coordinates automotive damage appraisals and repairs.
  • Manages vendor relationships and workload assignments.
  • Ensures proper use of purchase orders and timely payment of invoices.
  • Oversees repair and maintenance of all buses at bussing locations.
  • Manages all areas of the employee lifecycle including hiring and performance management.
  • Provides a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with safety policies.
