About The Position

• Lead the Fire Safety Test Engineering team by developing a standardized, efficient, and sustainable testing environment, infrastructure, and process framework. • Foster a culture of growth and accountability by coaching, mentoring, and managing Fire Test engineers while ensuring clear, constructive, and professional communication at all levels. • Drive continuous improvement by implementing industry best practices and optimizing testing methodologies for efficiency and accuracy. • Leverage deep technical expertise in BESS to design, plan, and oversee all UL 9540A and LSFT test activities, including thermal runaway initiation, test equipment layout, and coordination with third-party laboratories and internal stakeholders. • Spearhead all aspects of UL9540A Unit Level and Large-Scale fire test projects including test plan development, instrumentation at factory level, test setup and execution at third-party laboratories to ensure timely and successful execution. • Promote cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and regional teams to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing. • Develop and manage test schedules for all UL 9540A and LSFT testing activities, ensuring resource availability and on-time execution. • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and primary point of contact for all communications with certification bodies and external test laboratories regarding UL 9540A and LSFT testing. • Represent Fluence Energy as an active technical committee member for relevant standards such as UL9540A, CSA C800, UL 9540, etc. • Collaborate with program and project managers to meet deadlines, define test KPIs, and ensure timely reporting of progress, results, and risks. • Analyze, process, and present test data in a clear and structured format suitable for internal and external stakeholders. • Make informed, agile decisions based on available resources, timelines, and technical constraints, adapting as needed. • Coordinate logistical activities to ensure test units are prepared and delivered on time to meet testing schedules.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing cross-functional teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Strong program management skills, including experience with scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on identifying risks and optimization.
  • Experience in energy storage system related standard and regulations UL9540A, LSFT, NFPA, etc.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, quality, accountability, and professional growth.

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management experience is preferred.
