About The Position

The Manager of FP&A will lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical activities for a growing, multi-state substance use disorder (SUD) treatment organization. This role provides critical financial insights to support strategic decision-making across outpatient clinics, residential programs, psychiatric hospitals, and corporate operations while navigating complex reimbursement environments, including Medicaid, commercial payers, and grant funding. This is a working manager role with no staff, so you must be willing to perform all the work yourself initially. Why Hickory Recovery? Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role preferred but will consider aspiring first time manager candidates
  • Prior experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or multi-site healthcare strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of healthcare revenue cycles, payer contracting, and Medicaid reimbursement models
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) highly desired
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment serving vulnerable populations

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual operating budget process and quarterly re-forecasts for multiple sites and service lines (residential, outpatient, detox, etc.)
  • Prepare monthly financial variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and performance reports for executive leadership and site directors
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate new program expansions, acquisitions, payer contract changes, and site-level profitability
  • Analyze payer mix, reimbursement rates, denial trends, and revenue cycle performance specific to behavioral health and SUD services
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to track census, utilization, staffing ratios, and other key drivers of financial performance
  • Integrate with accounting team’s monthly close processes to understand and coordinate accurate accruals, reserve calculations, and financial package preparation
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and scenario modeling for strategic initiatives, capital requests, and regulatory changes (e.g., Medicaid policy updates)
